I have long been interested in locking mechanisms and am saving up for my first set of lock-picks and a couple of basic locks to experiment with.

What sort of time limit should I set myself for picking a basic lock, after a couple of practice runs? What sort of picks and locks are best for the total beginner?

As an aside, how long would it take a professional locksmith to pick a domestic house lock, for example- seconds or hours?

Please only answer if you have knowledge of locksmithing. Thanks!

Its for a 67 Chevelle, which is why I said I could buy the parts; I haven’t bought them yet, just investigating. I’d rather not leave the car at the shop, which is why I ask about a house call. Unless they could do same day service.

i forgot the combo to my lock on my shed. and i kno i can sludge and all thAT but actually i cnt or i will ruin my shed and i kno i could call a locksmith but thats too much

so i was wondering if a pair of 14″ bolt cutters could cut the combo lock to my shed?
and i wondering if anyones done this b4 and how hard it is to cut?

Does anyone who live in Tucson or Marana, Arizona know where I can get a replacement transponder key for my car. The dealership would do it, but I will need to tow the vehicle which costs more money. The Jim Click Ford says it will cost $110 for one replacement key. But the cheapest locksmith that will do it is $185. Anyone know who will re-key for a cheaper price. Thanks alot!

The ignition cylinder lock on my ‘02 corolla seems to be breaking down… car only has 32k miles, first owner, so who knows why. It is difficult to take the key out of the ignition most times, and I have to fiddle with it very carefully to make it happen. Sometimes the key won’t move inside the ignition without a great deal of fiddling to turn the car on.

Anyway what should I do about this? I’m thinking I just took the key out too forcefully one time and bent something inside the lock, and it has been slowly getting worse over the last few months. Is it easy to open up the cylinder and fix it? could a locksmith handle that? Or should I just pick up an new ignition cylinder off ebay?

The only thing is I don’t want to need separate keys for the ingnition and doors/trunk, so I want to fix the cylinder I have if it is possible.

I really need to change the locks for my cadillac 1986 sedan deville. The lock and key is messed up and wont open its a pain and I dont want to be locked out. I dont need ignition key because its a diffrent key and it works fine. Just need to change the door lock(s) and it should be pretty easy. my friend is also a locksmith and I can get sum help from him.
I have no time for online bullsh!t ordering so if you suggest that, you are wasting your time. Let me know Where I can find the locks? I mean… do Locksmiths sell the keys? Or Whaat?
I mean, I dont think I can get them at kragen auto parts?
