2000 Acura Integra - trunk lock broken?

Ben F asked:

I'm able to release the trunk lock from the inside, however, the trunk will not open unless I put the key into the trunk lock and then I need to turn the key to the right before I can move the lever to open the trunk. Do I see a locksmith or dealership to repair this? Thanks for your help and time.

Locksmith career? Advice?

susie asked:

Have a son in College that seems interested in the field, rather than some of the more "common" jobs his friends are taking while putting themselves through school.
What is involved? Training? Is there a union?
I recently had some re-keying done and it cost me a fortune. Perhaps I should join him!! : )
Thanks for any guidance, suggestions etc.

Sentry Key?

Question by deltadogs60:

Hi,

I have recently purchased 2004 Dodge Caravan SXT that only came with ONE sentry key. (Lock, Unlock, Panic) and I would like to get a second key. Also, I dont have the original pin code that was givin to the original owner for that key. I'd ask the dealer for it, but i'm sure he would just say " Don't worry about the pin code! just come on down, we will be glad to make you a second key." Is there a way I can get a second key without paying their high prices for it? Maybe a local locksmith? Internet? Thanks
Well, what i'm worried about is the cost for this key from a dealer. Maybe i'm wrong, but i've heard they cost about $180.00 to get an extra one. Is this true?

How can I replace my mailbox myself?

csw asked:

We just moved into a foreclosed home and never got keys to our mailbox. Called the Post Office and they referred us to our HOA, so we called them and they said we'd have to have a locksmith come out. Is there any way to save $100 and do it ourselves? The mailbox is one that has a cluster of mailboxes close together and the postmaster delivers mail from the backside. Thanks.

Should I stop a check if I think I was scammed by a locksmith?

Question by questioner69:

I was locked out of my car and called a locksmith company, whose number was listed as being in the same town as me, to help. They first said it would take 20-30 min, then the serviceman called and said 45 min, but it ended up being an hour. Then, it only took him about 2 min to open the door, but he asked for $39 service charge + $110 fo some other reason I couldn't comprehend. I didn't know what sort of figures to expect, so I wrote hime the check. I felt it odd though that he asked for the check to be made out to him by his name, not of the company I called. Anyway, I felt bad and decided to do some research online and was shocked to see how often this happens to people. I was definitely scammed out of more money than he deserved. This happened at night, and I checked my bank's website and found that the check I wrote hasn't been cashed yet. He may cash it in the morning though, so should I stop the check before it's too late. Will he come back and cause trouble?
By the way I did not get a reciept. The only form of proof I have is the carbon copy of the check I signed with his name in the "Pay to" section. I know I have to pay him something, but $150 is 3 times what I thought it should be. I'm just afraid to do something and then suffer while trying to negotiate. I would just let bygones be bygones, but I feel like until that check is cashed, I have a possibility of fixing my mistake.
