Can’t get into my Renault Laguna?

chapel7@btinternet.com asked:

I have a 2001+ Renault Laguna and the keycard now doesn’t allow me to unlock the door. The manual part of the card (the bit you can detatch to unlock the passenger door) doesnt work in the door itself – it just turns, so I can’t get into the car at all. I’ve ordered a replacement card from France through the local dealer and that should arrive in about a week. But I’m assuming they’ll need the car on site to reprogram it – something I cant do because the I can’t get in. Any ideas how I can get in there, with the exception of calling out a locksmith or a burglar?! I’m tempted to use www.keyrepair.co.uk but haven’t had a reply to my couple of emails…

More questions & answers:

  1. How to open my back door without a key?
  2. Locking issue with car – who do i take it to?
  3. Lost all My personal info, What do I do now?
  4. What can I do about this rat-like neighbor?
  5. “Key Code Information?”?

If the dealer has ordered a new key card fitted with a new emergency key blade (there is a choice of with or without when they order it), then when the new key card arrives go to the dealer and collect the emergency key blade so you can get into the vehicle, this will enable you to start the car with your existing key card and drive it to the dealer to get the new card coded.
Normally if you order the emergency key blade on its own it only takes a couple of days to arrive as it is posted to the dealer.

The only problem i can see is if the key blade number on renaults data base is the incorrect number.
