Are there any locksmiths on here, how long did it take you to train is it realistic i can learn enough in say 5 days to be able to trade as a mobile locksmith or should i be looking else where for training, how much can i expect to earn when qualified, i have found a 5 day course that is £1150 and you get certified with tools and access to call centers.

It all depends what part of the u.k. you are working in to how much you can earn. Make sure with the course provider that the certificate you get is recognised as a qualification I am a builder and have done a bit of locksmith call out if you need any more advice just ask. What is the name of the course provider?

hi, there's loads of useful info and links on this page http://www.learndirect-advice.co.uk/helpwithyourcareer/jobprofiles/profiles/profile414/
it says:
"There are two options for training. You can:
* train on the job with a local locksmith (please see the Training section for more information)
* do a short course run by the British Locksmiths Institute, which is part of the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA).

Annual Income
The annual income section is intended as a guideline only.
Trainees can expect to earn around £10,000 rising to over £14,000 with experience and training.
A self-employed locksmith can earn in excess of £20,000 a year"

if you see the link i gave you it will explain more, i hope this helps you as the course you mention seems like a lot of money!

Dont. Go to a local locksmith, and ask them, and look at thier facial expression, when you ask if a five day course can equate you to them, proffessionally, on a skills level.
When theyve stopped laughing, tell them your serious about the trade, you were suspicious about the ad (as you are) and ask thier advice how to get into it. This is yahoo and full of twits. Best to ask a locksmith. Good luck, but sorry, i think the crash course is a bad idea. At over a grand, I doubt a burglar could make that one pay.
