Does anyone know how to crack a Star brand floor safe?
Reginald J asked:
We moved into our house about 15 years ago now and in one of the closets there is a Star brand floor safe. It must have been built right into the foundation when the house was built. We have talked to the man who designed and built the house, and lived in it for about 10 years, on numerous occasions (happens to be a good friend of ours) and since he is getting way up there in age he can’t seem to remember the combination. We would rather not call a locksmith if we don’t have to but it’s starting to look like our only option. We have been wondering what is in that thing for years and even if there is nothing in it, if we could get the combination we would like to use it for ourselves.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to bust in it or maybe know where we can get a master combination code or something?
Its a Star Safe, Model: C6, Serial # 31118. The company is out of Paramount, California

There is no magic combination that locksmith’s use. Under the circumstances, you probably have two choices. The first is to contact the Star Safe Company and see if they have a record of the combination to your safe. If they do, they will probably make you junp through a bunch of hoops before they give it to you. If they didn’t, anyone could call them with the serial number of a safe whether it was theirs, or someone elses. So much for security. They may ask for a notarized letter from the person registered as the owner releasing them from any liability from releasing the combination. I’m guessing that this route would be tedious and time consuming.
Your best bet would probably be to hire a locksmith to open the safe and reset a new combination. Depending on how close a locksmith is to you, you should get out for $150.00 or so. Still, it is cheaper than buying a small safe that is not built in.
Good luck with your floor safe.
