I've always used a large paperclip bent straight and then bend a little v-hook in the end with a pair of needlenose pliers---insert the hooked end into the lock so the hook will catch the teeth of the broken key and try to pull it out. I've also used a little tool I made from a broken piece of coping saw blade---buy the blade at a hardware store and snap it in half, the blade has fine little teeth that you can use to try to catch the teeth of the old key with in the same manner. A surgical tweezer may do it also if there's room and the tweezer is thin enough---try a hospital equipment store for that. Good luck, Paul How much is broken off in the lock? If you can see the key you can try using a magnet, a stiff thin wire or nail file to pry it out or ABC Gum to stick to it and yank it out. Taffy works but gum works better because it doesnt leave a sticky residue. Of course I only drive american cars as I don't have the money for a mercedes. Happens to poor people a lot with time keys get brittle. Judging by the age of your car, I would think a wooden stick, some well chewed gum and/ or the other half of the key should do you fine.
