yes, you pull very very very hard one way then turn the key again, and if that doesnt work you pull very very hard the other way. keep going back and forth until you get it. if he tells you he has to break it hes lying
try shakeing the steering as u turn the key and if its an automatic make sure its in pak al the way
Crank the steering wheel to the left then try to turn the key, if that doesn’t work then try to turn it to the right and turn the key.
Jiggle the steering wheel while trying to turn the key.Mine does this all the time.I usually have to turn the wheel to the left then back to the right to get it to let go.Also try putting the car in neutral while doing the jiggle thing with the steering wheel.Good luck.
This is an EXTREMELY common problem with Focuses. The ONLY way to fix it, is to replace the ignition lock cylinder. The replacement lock cylinder is an updated part. It is actually identical to the style of lock cylinder used on 2005 to current model year Focuses. The cost to fix it, should be around 3 hours labour, plus the cost of the part and towing. Nine out of every 10 Focuses will have this problem. Hope this helps.
Turn the steering wheel hard to one way or the other and then try turning the key and if that doesnt work then perhaps your ignition is shot either way it should not have to be “broken”, but it may need to be replaced.
Ford Girl is dead on the money with this one. I have personally replaced five of these myself, every one of them doing the same thing yours does. The key cylinder was $60 at my local Ford dealer (had to take them an old key to match up the tumblers) and putting it in only took a couple of hours. Hardest thing is to get the key to turn to the Accessory position to get the old cylinder out. (You have to take the panels under the drivers side out and then take the plastic around the column itself off to get to the cylinder release pin.)
Best of luck!!!
