How do I remove this trunk lock assembly?

Question by Russell:

I bought this car about 2 months ago and just the other day I went to open the trunk and it didn’t open. I think the cable might be broke or even loose? Does anyone know how to remove it? The picture of it is in this link. I want to try fixing this without spending $100 on a locksmith or new assembly.

Probably the cable is loose it looks like. Personally I would replace the cable (About $15 at the auto parts store). The same thing happened to my car and I took it to the auto parts store and the guy there knew what I needed, and even installed it. Hopefully you have equal luck.

you will probably have to remove the whole assembly from the trunk lid to see if the cable can be replaced or you might have to buy the whole unit with the cable on it.

There should be a metal retaining clip on the inside of deck lid
