Need more info. Is it matching? Is it exposed to moisture and getting ice in the mechanism or lock? Maybe someone put some lubricant in it and it froze? Is there blowing/ freezing rain getting into it? Sorry…. wish I could help but I don’t understand the problem enuf!

you can lubricate it with powdered graphite. normally you can find this near the key machines in hardware stores. That’s the first thing I’d try.

I should do it every year, but every second or third year I squirt in WD-40 (comes with very small nozzle straw), work the key in/out/around, and its good until the next rude awakening. Works great on car locks too!

Try going to your local auto parts store. They usually carry a small can of anti-freeze for the locks on car doors and it would work very good on on a house door. Wal-mart (Wally-World) may have it also.

the frost maybe moving the foundation slightly and this is throwing the door jamb off slightly upwards, check the latch, I normally have to move the latch on the door frame up slightly and then it catchs
