I can’t open any doors to a 2000 YukonXL, battery dead, key won’t open any doors – help please?
lori asked:
The key to the doors hadn’t been used in years because I’m so used to unlocking/locking the doors with the remote and now that I try the key, it doesn’t even go in half way. If I call 311 can a police officer open the door for me? I called a locksmith before when I accidentally left my keys in another car and they charged me $200.00, I really can’t afford that right now. What else can I do? I tried charging the battery from under the truck but couldn’t. Help please!
I tried that WD40 but it didn’t work. Could it be that I didn’t put enough in there? I dropped about 5 drops in there – I really don’t know if that’s definitely not enough or how much is enough? Thanks for your opinions I’ve been worrying so much about this since I feel like I’ve tried everything I can do.

try spraying a little WD40 into the lock, that might help the key slide better.
does the remote still work. wd40 may loosen up the lock don’t force the key, they are fragil and if broken in the lock it will cost a lot more to repair.
I just did this with my 92 new yorker. The lock basically froze (it was 85 in the shade that day) but I turned the key and bent the key, we sprayed wd40 in the lock, and it worked, I got in my car, however there is STILL a streak of where the wd40 ran out of the lock, and down my door. I now have to replace the vinyls that I had, and probably get the door re-painted. Make sure you hold a towel under the lock when you do it.
you should be able to get enough charge in it to open the doors by hooking the charger to the battery cable on the starter under the truck and the negetive to the frame of the truck .
hope this helps
it is cheapto call a tow truck they can jimmy it
try the key in one of the other doors
