I Lost the keys to my 1989 Ford Bronco?

Question by Audrey C:

There are two seperate keys, one for the door, one for the ignition. Can a normal locksmith fix this? How much will it cost on a weekday? I bought it from a relative who doesn’t have a spare key and it is obviously too old to take to a dealership. What can I do?

If you try to track down the original selling dealer of the truck, they might have the key codes in their records which you could then use to just have new keys cut for it. A locksmith can change out the locks but it gets pretty expensive to do all the doors and tailgate and ignition and glovebox…sometimes they can remove one of the door locks and disassemble it to figure out what cuts to make a new original key to and save some money there but ignition would have to be replaced.
And, PLEASE, have a second set made…..Paul

i’m sure sorry about this mess you’re in ,my friend, and a good lock smith can make a key for the door, and ingnition too,but it sounds like an ignition swich has been replaced in it and it’s different than the doors, because at the factor,it’s a matched set at the doors and ignition.. and to change all to fit one key is to epensive. you must change all tumblers in the doors and ignition… and on the weekend is the worst time, and even if you find a locksmith, they will charge overtime..or weekend pay scale..if you could wait till the weekday, and get a locksmith open it,and have an extra key or two made for it too…

A locksmith is actually your best bet. I am guessing but You have no key so the guy will have to come out. if it is unlocked I would say around 200 bucks.

That is a goofy thing about the 80 Fords thay all have the two key system. I dunno why.
