Key will not turn in ignition?

Somebody asked:

I own a 2002 chyrsler voyager ec and it worked great this morning and later today when I went to use it, the key goes into the ignition fine but will not turn. I have tried turning the steering wheel and the key too because I know sometimes that helps, but it didn’t. I used a spare key (thinking it was the key) that didn’t work either. Any suggestions before I call dealership or locksmith? Anybody else have this problem?

Make sure the gear selector is in park !!!

That’s happened to me before too. Try turning the steering wheel and THEN turn the key. Sometimes the steering wheel locks up. Don’t turn both at the same time, good luck!

make sure you’re in park and jiggle the steering wheel a little bit. this happened with my car once and i just put as much pressure as possible to make the wheel turn to the left and it worked. and try pressing the brake while you’re turning the key.

just turn the steering wheel as hard as you can. you won’t break it.

i doubt your ignition is locked and if it is just call AAA or somebody and they’ll help you out with it. i don’t think a locksmith would be too much help and your dealership would just suggest people to call to get help from.

call your dealership or whoever works on your car and tell em you need a flat bed to take your car to them cause your ignitions locked.

Make sure emergency or hand brake is set, check to see that the front tire (wheel) is not pressing against the curb and sometimes the brake pedal has to be depressed when gear shift is in park and on turning the key to start.

if you have a locking transmission you can find that link on the side of the transmission and remove it. the see if it shifts and starts in N or P. also, take a air hose and blow out the key switch and cover your eyes. tiny pcs of metal do come off of a key over time and some times get built up in the back of the key way.
