Lost my house key??

kazballer92 asked:

Ok, so I went to some field in another neighborhood to play some football with my friends. Well, I had my house key in my pocket, and it must’ve fallen out when I jumped or something. We searched the whole field and couldn’t find it. Should I call a locksmith and change the locks on my house? It was at some elementary school where no one knows who I am… Just to be safe, but my parents are gonna get pissed and make me pay for it.

More questions & answers:

  1. would u refuse to pay for sth u had gotten lost? my bf does and it was sth really special 2 me:’(?
  2. My Ex used to be a locksmith. How can I keep him from entering my house?
  3. Can police enter a locked house? If so, how?
  4. Can a locksmith get in your deadbolted house? Do you need ID proof for him to do it?
  5. lost my key! GSX-R 1000 help?

No one will ever know where to go if they found the key. I would use a spare house key and get an extra made for you, then put the spare back. There’s no sense in worrying your parents.

i would just get another key made and go on but if u r that worried you con get your locks rekeyed instead of getting new locks its way cheaper

I would just try to get a copy of one of their keys. Like you said if anyone found it would know where to go with it

Just to be safe, I would have the locks re-keyed…..Just take the lock off and take it to a locksmith store and have it re-keyed. Cheaper than having them come to your house and doing it….

You could check your home insurance policy as most will cover the cost of lock replacement if you lose your keys
