I thought that suzuki could make and send me another key if I gave them my vin and some number off the cylinoid, but when I called the dealer they told me to call a locksmith! Who’s right, if I’m right what do I need and who do I need to call?
thanks!

I lost my keys to my GTR-1000, i was given 2 choices the first was to walk the 1500km home to get the spare set or call the locksmith.
Never heard of any manufacture being able to re cut the key for bike or car
u r going to have to call a lock smith…
it sucks… i never heard of company sending u replacement key
no way is the manufacturer going to mail you another key. you could just be some random dude that pinched a bike off the street for all they know.
locksmith, brotha. it’s really not that exspensive.
Could someone of taken your key because they didn’t want you to ride after praying to the porcelin god?
I don’t think giving anyone a VIN and cylinoid number would work because anyone, who is not the owner, could just go up to any bike, get those numbers and get a key made for it. So a locksmith is a more reasonable answer.
Did you buy the bike new? Did the keys originally come with a tag that had a code on it in case they needed to be replaced?
you need to stay away from the booze.
Nate, you dumb a$$……lol
I did this in 1989, with a ‘85 GS 700.
I had to load my bike in the truck, drive past 3 Suzuki dealers on the way, to the largest dealer in my area. They looked at my i.d. and registration and checked it against the vin # on the bike, then went inside-pulled out the micro-fisch media (shows you how old I am) and looked up the key code and made a new key for me. that was a long time ago. I’m sure that keys have become more sophisticated since then, but I can’t believe that there isn’t a way to get a new one from Suzuki. But if that is the case, a locksmith might be able to make you a new one, or you’ll have to replace it with a new ignition switch.
with id and proof of ownership, a harley has it’s key code kept on file for 15 years, same as most american car companies. a dealer can cut a key based on code with a quick lookup.
hmmm, if only yours were american, it would save alot of hassle
I know the K5 and later models were coded, which can get expensive.
If not a lock smith is probably your best bet
buy a new ignition system so you have three key and the code of them. it will cost you but it help !
