Lost the key to “the club” on my car?
Question by dommy d:
Key is gone to my club. Backup is gone. I don’t have any paperwork on the thing or serial numbers. Any ideas how to get it off? And if the answer is locksmith… any idea how much it would cost on a regular day (not weekend) for a guy to come and do it.

It might take awihle but I would say just take a hack-saw and get to work.
i agree with thetrues. buy a cheap hacksaw.
Get the hacksaw out with a fresh metal cutting blade. A better idea may be to get a jig saw, or a sawzall saw.
Some thieves will just cut through the steering wheel and remove the club that way. I wouldn’t recommend this method for you.
The locksmith can be called for an estimate on prices. Somewhere around $50 may be about right, but call and get estimates.
good luck.
I would try to cut it (the club) with a jaw saw with a metal blade
good luck
know a welder? have him cut it off. also, there are hand held grinders available at tool stores and home depots. you’ll have to buy a diamond cutting wheel for it though. that’ll cut anything. count on the locksmith (in a fairly big town or city) charging you at least $75.00 to start. know an a/c guy? he can freeze it, smack it with a hammer and it’ll shatter into pieces. thats how thieves used to steal cars with clubs. good luck!
CO2, like in a fire exstiguisher, will freeze it, and you can snap it off.
Well, I can suggest three options if the locksmith is out of the question. Try buying another club and see if the key will fit. Use a hacksaw in cut through the steering wheel (thieves would do this anyway if they saw the club and they really wanted the car). Or search really really hard for that key. It has to be somewhere.
there was a website that showed you how to unlock one with only the parts contained in a bic pen.
I think that they removed the lock without ever unlocking the lock part, but I could have gotten it wrong.
I cant seem to find the web site, but they have a major design flaw that makes it easy to get in to, I would just try to take it apart.
drilling out the lock cylinder works on most locks.
good luck.
