Nail Salon lost my keys, are they liable?

Question by lt:

I was at the nail salon and as they do for all customers, because my nails were wet they moved my belongs for me when I switched tables. It was when it came time to leave that I noticed my keys were missing. We searched everywhere with no luck. I was forced to take a taxi, call a locksmith to get into my home and have the keys to my home and car changed.

Unfortunately … probably not. Hopefully you called the police and reported the theft, because that’s exactly what it was. The personnel at the salon didn’t “lose” your keys, another customer STOLE them.

Unfortunately, it is not their problem. As much as it sucks having that kind of thing happen, the place of business is not liable. Just one of those things you have to just blame on bad luck.

No, they are not liable…you are responsible for keeping track of your possessions (you could have and likely should have, put them in your pocket, not left them out). Whoever took the keys is guilty of theft and agree with the above poster, file a police report if you have not already done so.

Unfortunately not liable…
