Trunk latch broken?
Question by King Loser:
While I was away, my wife locked her keys in the truck, one of her absolutely moronic frinds decided the best remedy to this situation was to jam a screwdriver into the key hole and try to force the lock open. Needless to say, that didnt go well. Then they just pulled at the back seat till it broke off and they were still not able to get her keys, nevermind I told her to just call a locksmith (what do I know?) Thren the proceded with the force idea some more untill they managed to get it open.

So all they could do was to tie the trunk down but not latched untill i got back, at which time I invested the 2 minutes it took to open the truck, manualy trip the lock witch was stuck in the locked position now, and shut it.
Anyway, now I want to put in a trunk opener handle with a cable system and I need to know if there is an aftermarket kit for this kind of thing. Any input or expirence would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Its a 1990 Pontiac Grand am

call the pontiac dealer and ask him if a handled trunk release was an option that year on your vehicle, I know my 94 grand am has one.
Check Autozone, they got replacement lock cylinders, dead easy to replace, and only takes about 10 mins. Just follow the instruction, should be about 15 bucks for your lock.
