unlocking a lock for one of the bedroom?

Ususally there is a small hole in the center of the knob that you can push a stiff pin or wire into to unlock the door. There is usually a way, look closely.

this is a bit tricky but with lots of patience, you can unlock this door. you need two flat strips of metal, one is inserted to jiggle the pins inside and the other on to turn the cylinder at the same time you’re jiggling the pins, with hope and lots of patience, you can unlock any door. good luck

Most bedroom and bathroom locks have a small hole in the middle of the knob. You simply press a small object into the hole to unlock it. For example, something like an ice pick or a miniture torx screwdriver will work.

There may be a “key” above the door, on the top of the frame. That is typical.

Another thing to try is to wedge a piece of metal between the door and the frame at the latch. Look at the angled portion of any door latch to see how it contacts the frame and gets pushed in as the door shuts. On an interior door, there is no safety mechanism to keep you from pressing the latch in with the door closed and locked.

A good exterior door latch will have an anti-jimmy mechanism to prevent this. Obviously, the metal strip needs to be fairly thin, but rigid. This is a variation of the classic “credit card” trick except the credit card isn’t very relable.

If this doesn’t work, you should be able to disassemble the lock. Unscrew the screws and it should fall apart. There is also a spring loaded “pin” on one knob to remove it.

If there is no hole to unlock the door, climb through the window. Windows are easier to get into places than doors.

many have a small hole in the middle.
some work by inserting a straightened paperclip or such and triggering the spring to unlock the door.
others require a small screwdriver be inserted and turned to unlock.
if there is no hole in the outside knob, you could try slipping a drivers license or credit card in the gap to open the latch manually.

if it is one of the doors with a small hole in the middle of the knob here is a suggestion…. i keep a toothpick stuck in the doorframe in an unnoticable place beside every door in the house. mine tend to lock on their own all the time. if you have small kids keep the toothpick up high so the kids cant reach it.
