Where can i get original GM replacement keys for an 86 caprice classic?

I want to keep the car original and i want to get original GM keys. I don’t want to replace the ignition and locks but if it comes to i will. I don’t want to hire a locksmith because it seems to expensive. It might come out costing the same.

why do they have to be orginal for ?? i myself go to a hardware store that makes keys from the machine personally an not by remote control.. .. original keys that old would be too expensiveand their is no guarantees u can get it .mj

Dealers don’t have keys to cars that old. You’re gonna have to go the locksmith route.

That may be a good trick. You might try a search on the net asking for OEM 1986 GM key blanks.

If you are in the UK. contact Old Car World in Perivale W.London ( totaly GM Parts dealers) and give then the Chassis number. They will sell you a set of UNCUT keys and if you take them + the original ones to a locksmith, they will be exact duplicates as your original ones. You usually can but oe keys from a locksmith especially old-timers, swap meets, Hemmings Motor News or E-Bay.
